Renting a Dumpster in Warrenton, VA: Old Town Tips, Farm Cleanouts & the Right Size

Warrenton projects come in two very different shapes. There’s the Old Town home with a narrow driveway and a historic streetscape, and there’s the farm or horse property at the end of a long gravel lane. Both can use a dumpster, but each needs a different plan. Here’s how to do it right.
Start With the Project, Not the Dumpster
Pick your size by the job, not the price:
- 10–15 yard: Garage, shed or single-room cleanouts and small bathroom remodels.
- 15–20 yard: Decks, fences, flooring and most roof replacements.
- 20–30 yard: Barn and outbuilding cleanouts, estate cleanouts, basement finishing and large renovations.
- 10 yard only: Concrete, brick, dirt or gravel. Heavy materials need a smaller container because of weight.
If you’re between sizes, go larger. A second haul usually costs more than stepping up one size. Our dumpster sizes page has dimensions, and our guide to choosing the right roll-off size in Northern Virginia goes deeper.
Old Town and the Historic District
Older lots and narrower streets mean placement takes more planning. Before you book:
- Use a private driveway if you can. No permit is needed in most cases.
- Check the street option. If the only spot is a public street or right-of-way, contact the Town of Warrenton first.
- Know the historic rules. Exterior work on properties in the historic district may need review or approval before it starts. Confirm with the town before ordering for a larger exterior project.
- Watch the overhead. Low branches and utility lines are common on older streets.
- Protect older surfaces. Our hook-lift trucks set the container down gently, and plywood under the footprint adds protection on brick, pavers and aging asphalt.
Not sure it fits? Text a photo of the spot to (703) 594-7656 and we’ll tell you which size works.
Farms, Horse Properties and Rural Lots
Fauquier County properties bring their own jobs: old fencing, barn and stall renovations, storm-damaged trees, brush clearing and outbuilding teardowns. For rural delivery, tell us:
- Lane length and surface (gravel, dirt, paved)
- Gate width, steep grades and tight turns
- Overhead branches and wires
- How firm the ground is after rain
Soft ground can limit truck access, so we may suggest a firmer spot or a different delivery day. [Confirm your policy on manure, hay, stumps and brush, and add it here. Farm customers will ask.] See our yard waste dumpster page for brush and storm cleanup.
Neighborhoods and HOAs
Many Warrenton-area neighborhoods have HOA rules about how long a container can stay, where it can go and whether notice is required. Check with your HOA or property manager before delivery, and give us gate codes or access instructions when you book.
Prep Your Delivery Spot
- Clear the space of cars, basketball hoops and trash cans.
- Look up for low branches and wires.
- Tell us about narrow driveways, tight turns or soft ground.
- Plan where you’ll load from, so you aren’t hauling debris across the yard.
What Can and Can’t Go In
Household junk, furniture, yard waste and standard construction debris are fine. Hazardous materials, wet paint, car batteries, motor oil, chemicals, propane tanks, tires and asbestos are not allowed. If you have something unusual, ask before you load it. When to Book
Spring and summer are the busiest, with cleanouts, roofing, decks and barn work all peaking. Fall brings leaf and storm debris, and our fall property cleanout guide helps you plan for it. Booking a few days ahead gets you your preferred date, and same-day delivery is often available when you call early.
What It Costs
Pricing depends mostly on container size and what you’re throwing away. We use flat-rate pricing that includes delivery, pickup and disposal, with no hidden fees. Most Warrenton rentals run between $349 and $650. Our pricing guide breaks it down by size.
